Proficient reading and math skills are essential to a child’s academic success. As an EIP teacher, I keep in mind that all students CAN learn, but for some reason have not mastered previous grade level skills. Essentially, it is my job to figure out how they learn and give them the necessary tools to achieve academic success.
Below are some websites that give an explanation of essential skills needed to be a good reader, reading strategies that might assist with areas of weakness, math strategies that will enhance overall student learning and academic achievement.

What’s going on in EIP?????
2nd Grade:
Reading:
Students are working on long and short vowels and blends
Math:
Addition and subtraction with and without regrouping
3rd Grade:
Reading:
Currently we are working on reading comprehension skills. Additionally, we are learning about synonyms and antonyms. Children are learning how to identify story elements.
Math:
DIVISION
Students are working on sharpening their division skills. Skills such as knowing that
division is the opposite of multiplication, repeated subtraction and the “number line” technique are ways ALL learners are being incorporated into division lessons.
